Monitoring Gamma Radiation

The Neighborhood Environmental Watch Network, known as NEWNET, is able to give early indications of increases in radiation due to radioactive particulates in the air.

8/20/1998Larry SandersThe station was loaded with NEWNET version R35 software on 8/18/98 at 22:17Z. This software provides improved accuracy for radiation measurements in the low range. The station was re-wired with a door sensor and new voltage divider for the radiation sensor. This station uses dual 12 volt batteries and an 18Watt solar panel. The dual batteries will be left on the station until a charge controller can be installed. At that time a new 12 volt battery will be installed. The PIC 300volt battery voltage was ok (317volts). Currently, this station only has a radiation sensor. EPA will install meteorological sensors later. All meteorological inputs will remain shorted until the meteorological sensors are installed.Station InfoData Graph
